Public Inquiry: Wind Farm

Outline of Project

Developers were proposing to install wind farms with a total capacity of about 30MW. Local groups objected to the development and a public inquiry was held.

A senior member of Cadogan's staff presented evidence to show that the wind farm would not contribute to the Government's target of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. This was because the power generated in that location would displace hydroelectric power, another renewable source. The wind farm was remote from fossil fuel generating stations and the distribution losses would mean that much of the power would be lost, if it had to be exported to the south.
