Mia CaldwellExpertise
Experience Chemical and corrosion engineer with 27 years of industrial experience in the field of corrosion science and electrochemistry, spanning the areas of troubleshooting and failure analysis, testing and monitoring, and expert witness and litigation support. My experience involves most aspects of corrosion, and includes metallurgical, mechanical, and electrochemical studies of materials performance for aggressive media, such as turbine blades, chemical reactors, waterside and fireside corrosion in high pressure boilers, heat exchangers, water treatment, and selection of protective coatings and inhibitors. I have provided forensic expert witness and litigation support to plaintiff and defendant related to the failure of industrial systems, and domestic failure class actions. Product failures include automobile components worth tens of billions of dollars, medical devices, machinery, pipe systems, and contaminated drinking water Other Activities I have served the semiconductor and biotechnology industries in Silicon Valley, where I lived and worked in the last 12 years. I participated in large design teams, such as the Bay Bridge Span Replacement, the Bay tunnel and the Port of Oakland. I also served as a senior Project Manager to the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and co-authored various technical papers. Professional Qualifications and Registrations
