Experience

Over 30 years experience as a civil engineer, specialising in geotechnical engineering. As a geotechnical adviser he has experience in most principal sectors of civil engineering. Considerable involvement with reservoir engineering projects, piling works and slope instability. He has presented written and oral evidence at arbitration and compiled expert reports for litigation, also for insurance loss adjusting and claims adjudication.

1995 to date - Geotechnical Consultant and Director, DME Geotech [International] Ltd.

Design consultancy, expert advice, opinion and reports have embraced settlement, subsidence, deep foundations, piling, retaining walls, earthworks and engineering hydrology. Project work throughout UK and Middle East, India, SE Asia.

1988 to 1995 - Rendel Geotechnics.

Assistant Director, managing geotechnical project work in the UK.  Also, overseas projects in Kuwait, UAE, Ghana, Yemen, Singapore, Philippines and Malaysia.

1986 to 1988 - Caledonian Geotech.

Principal engineer responsible for engineering interpretation and contractual matters for investigations throughout the UK.

1975 to 1986 - Strathclyde Water Dept.

Principally engaged in the investigation, design and supervision of reservoir engineering projects and major infrastructure repair works.

• Geological Society - West of Scotland. Regional Committee (1991-1997) and Regional Group Treasurer (1994-1997).
